Day 1Arrive in Naples and transfer to Gulf of Policastro

The group will rendezvous at Naples airport. One single transfer by minibus from Naples airport to Gulf of Policastro is organized according to the arrival time of the clients. If they arrive in the morning, the group will stop at the Archeological Site of Paestum and make a tour in a mozzarella farm tasting the real buffalo-milk mozzarella. Paestum is of extreme importance, recognised by UNESCO as part of the World Cultural Heritage, along with the National Park of Cilento and Vallo di Diano. The majestic Doric temples, illuminated by sunlight and the long coastal strip, brushed by a sparkling sea, are the elements which make Paestum a charming place in which you can spend your time. The old city is located in a strategic position, a few km  South of the Amalfi Coast and on the north of the Cilento Coast, it is the door to the National Park of Cilento. Paestum remains, for its art, nature, tastes and events which characterize it, one of the most important beautiful cities of Magna Grecia, which must be visited and discovered. After settling in the afternoon we have a briefing from our guide on the week’s activities.

Dinner and overnight in the hotel.

Day 2Cala Bianca, the Piscine and Bay of Infreschi (Marina di Camerota)

Transfer by private minibus to Marina di Camerota.

The town is part of the Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park, whose natural environment is composed of “Maquis”, typical of Mediterranean countries. It is a main tourism location, especially in the summer, due to the quality of its water, which has earned it the Blue Flag beach award every year since 2000. Places of inestimable natural and landscape beauty, which, according to Legambiente, are the most beautiful beaches in Italy (2013 Cala Bianca, 2014 Bay of Infreschi). They are a gem of the Infreschi’s Coast, among rock sides and turquoise sea, high sea depth ideal for swimming. These three location that we propose you can be reached by a 2 hours walk from the centre. The path is surrounded by the Meditteranean scrub, unique because it is hidden by the land and sea. The outward route will be walking while the return is scheduled by the boat, visiting the innumerable caves along the coast. The Bay of Infreschi or Porto Infreschi is a bay naturally protected by the marine currents, characterized by the emerald green waters and the depths rich in Posidonia. At the center of the bay there is the homonymous cave, full of charm and mystery thanks to its small tunnels that converge in it. Natural port, well-known to national and international tourism and flagship of the Cilento coast, Porto Infreschi is the destination of each trip by sea.

Stretch of coastline that is part of a protected marine area of special landscape and natural value: the natural area of the coast of the Infreschi and Masseta. The route allows us to cross one of the most spectacular and wild natural landscapes of the Mediterranean Sea, full of cliffs, coves, isolated beaches and numerous karst caves. The return is by boat.

Day 4Punta Licosa and the small medieval town of Castellabate

7:30 am Breakfast at the hotel and packing suitcase to change hotel.

8:30 am Transfer by private minibus towards Castellabate.

The itinerary develops within the marine protected area of Punta Licosa, between the towns of Ogliastro Marina and San Marco. Punta Licosa is located not far from Santa Maria of Castellabate and can be reached only on foot from Ogliastro Marina through a long avenue of carobs and of Aleppo pines, olive groves, vines and bushes of Mediterranean scrub. The mythological legends are what make it even more fascinating and charming this place of the Cilento coast. A dip in the myth! After the hiking, we transfer to Castellabate, medieval town, one of the “most beautiful villages in Italy”, perched on a hill overlooking the wide bay from Licosa to Tresino.

Day 5WWF Oasis of Morigerati and The Capello’s Waterfall

8:00 am Breakfast at the hotel.

8:30 am Transfer by private minibus towards Sicilì, hamlet of Morigerati.

The WWF Oasis of Morigerati is a protected area that develops along the banks of the Bussento River. It offers an attractive and unique habitat… a landscape of fairy tales! The whole area is characterized by an area of about 607 hectares. It is a river environment where the Mediterranean scrub takes magnificent connotations. Bussento River originates from the southern slope of Mount Cervati and close to Caselle in Pittari sinks into a huge sinkhole to reappear after an underground route of 6 km deep in the earth, just below the Morigerati town. The Oasis tour will offer us interesting insights landscaped with lush vegetation that goes to touch the surface of the water, and with numerous springs and waterfalls sprouting along the sandy and cobbled shores. Before returning to the hotel we will take a walk in Casaletto Spartano to see the beautiful Capello’s Waterfall, called  Venrere Hair. Named so for the venus hair fern.

Day 6The karst phenomena of Mount Cervati

8:00 am Breakfast at the hotel.

8:30 am Transfer by private minibus towards Monte San Giacomo.

Mount Cervati, with its 1898 meters, is the highest mountain in Campania. It ranks among the municipalities of Sanza, Piaggine and Monte San Giacomo. The geological nature of the massif shows the typical morphology of a karst environment, with sinkholes, fresh springs and temporary streams. Uncontaminated nature, breathtaking views and a unique landscape are the features of this place. We will focus on the area of “Gravettoni” and the ‘”Natural Arch”. The name “Gravettoni” derives from the presence, in this specific area, of a series of ponors. A ponor is a natural surface opening that may be found in landscapes where the geology and the geomorphology is characterized by some kind of karst. We will see ponors still active and others inactive now. There will be the opportunity to have lunch at the Refuge Cervati located at 1600 meters of altitude.

Height differences: 450 meters
Equipment: sticks and hiking shoes.

Dinner and overnight in the hotel.

Day 7The Alburni, between rocky sculptures and caves

8:00 am Breakfast at the hotel.

8:30 am Transfer by private minibus towards Sant’Angelo a Fasanella

Carved on a rock, there is a wonderful rocky sculpture, dating back to IV-II century BC, perfectly carved and preserved in its shape, represented together with the shield and a weapon (an ax, probably), which keeps tied to his belt. The Mount Costa Palomba, which houses the sculpture, was the site of an ancient castrum of Lucani. It was also a “sacred” place. As you know, the ancient peoples, the Greeks first, they used to put in very panoramic areas their places of worship. And the Antece is no exception: the sculpture was in fact a kind of pagan religious icon of the Lucani, so a votive symbol for pilgrims of the time. Antece was the pagan god of the Alburni. A protection warrior of Lucan community. The walk will take approximately 2 hours and on our return we transfer to Fra Gentile’s Cave, a spectacular karst hole with two large openings. It has a majestic entrance and is still active and deep about 233 m. The name of the cave comes from the name of the brigand Fra Gentile whom this place found his hideout.
